Giving Back To The Community

True to its brand promise and core values, Elken believes in corporate social responsibility and has supported many community-driven events, in particular, blood donation drives. In 2003, the company held a large-scale blood donation campaign that spanned across the country. This campaign was listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest volume of blood accumulated by an individual organisation in Malaysia with over 1000 bags of blood collected in a day. This record-breaking achievement was repeated, and exceeded, in 2004 and 2005, establishing Elken as an organisation that cares about the people.

Elken Foundation

In 2007, Elken Foundation was established. An embodiment of the company’s promise to give back to society, Elken Foundation has successfully organised many charitable activities including blood donations, fundraising for schools, donation drives in aid of cervical cancer and breast cancer, and more. Dedicated to leaving a lasting legacy of love, trust, compassion and a heart for community, Elken Foundation carries its vision of alleviating poverty and suffering, fostering self-reliance and empowerment of the disadvantaged and underprivileged through education and training for the betterment of lives in the community. Since its inception, Elken Foundation has also collaborated with PJ Live Arts, schools and non-governmental organisations like Living Hope to enable the underprivileged to enjoy talks on nutrition, fun school holiday programmes, visits to exhibitions and healthy treats.

Oriental Art & Cultural Association (OACA)

Elken established the Oriental Art & Cultural Association (OACA) in 2010 to make art accessible for the masses, and to encourage the understanding of art and culture through education, art and cultural events. As one of the few corporate organisations that support the arts community in Malaysia, Elken believes that many talented artists are not provided with the right environment and opportunities due to financial constraints. This situation spurred Elken to establish the OACA and the association has helped many art enthusiasts discover and expand on their talent for calligraphy, pottery, paper cutting and other traditional Oriental cultural art disciplines as well as breathe new life into the preservation and appreciation of Oriental art throughout the years. Other than nurturing young artists and talents, OACA has also initiated the Community Outreach Programme, “Seed Project”, to provide art education to kids in rural areas. This project was launched in 2013 and has made its way to 10 primary schools, from Malaysia to Thailand and China. The programme has drawn attention from the larger society and has successfully attracted many volunteers to extend their helping hands.
